While we’ve been busy celebrating artificial intelligence, nature continues to quietly remind us how little we truly understand. New research shows that plants are actually sentient beings, able to recognize even the color of your shirt. If it took us this long to realize that plants can see our J.Crew, how much are we missing in other areas like AI or even human behavior?

With natural and artificial intelligence constantly evolving, challenging age old assumptions is key to staying on top. So as passive vegetarians come to terms with plants having feelings too, the rest of us should focus on staying adaptable, before plants and robots conspire against us all.
